Birmingham to Manchester 2018

Back in July on the Friday night before Thunder Run, a few of us sat on the A&T ASBO bus discussing our plans for the rest of the year and into 2018 when one person came up with the idea of doing something ‘Epic’. A few suggestions flowed over the following hours, but the idea that seemed most interesting was Birmingham to Manchester on foot as it suggested something to everybody that you were likely to talk to for the rest of your life as a ‘stupid’ thing to do.
Fast forward 5 Months and plans are now in place to not only do this, but to do it in the depth of Winter when the nights are longest and coldest (we said Epic).
On Friday 26th January 2018 at 11:00 Phil Spencer-Gray, Stu Maley-Jones and I (Dave Sloan) will set off from Birmingham New Street Station with the aim of arriving at Gin Pit Welfare Club by 12:00 on Saturday 27th.

Given the level of this challenge we would really love it if anybody from the club could get involved to help us out with regards to support, pacing etc. Particularly in the second half of the day. Carl has already offered his services as a support vehicle and I am sure Claire would get involved too and we would appreciate it if anyone else is interested in getting involved at any level. The sections are organised at around 10-miles each based around major road junctions and towns, and we plan to cover around 4 miles an hour through the night. All support would be great for morale, sanity etc and we would be happy if anybody wanted to take part in the challenge alongside us.

We will be going to the Whistling Wren after the track Parlauf on 11th December, so I will pencil this is as a time to go through the plans with anybody interested.

Otherwise, please drop one of us a message and we will be happy to help you make your mind up.

Thanks, Dave.
