Liver Hill 2015 Fell Report
Last Tuesday saw 6 of the Hardiest A & T Athletes take on Liver Hill Fell race. This is a cracking little fell race run from the same venue as the cross country but it goes straight up the hill behind where the cross country is ran. the other similarity is the mud, plenty of mud!
Although British summer time had officially begun the weather was definitely winter time! We had rain, snow, sleet, high winds and some sunshine which made some cracking rainbows on the journey up. All this epic weather made the conditions up on the moor challenging to say the least. All part of the fun!
First home for A&T was Tim Campbell who had a cracking race considering his weekend exploits at the Viper run and had 4th place in his sights before taking a wrong turn, who knows where a fresher Tim with a bit more luck could of finished! I was next home and although my result wasn’t what i would have liked i had great fun and loved every minute of it. Next in was Ian Joslin making his debut for A&T on the Fells, I think i might have a new recruit with Ian. First and only lady for us was Josie Maley (i need more women! fell running women that is!) despite her legendary descending skills all her recent iron training made for a strong performance. Chris Bennett was next and did not look happy when he crossed the finish line but we all express our extreme joy in our own way, cracking run Chris! The other Chris (Whittaker) was next in and despite all his moaning about hating running and hills he finished the race with the biggest smile on his face! Welcome to the light side Chris!
All in all a brilliant night that finished with 6 runners that will be fitter and stronger than before.
The next fell race is Harrock Hill on May 27th. This is not quite a fell race so will be an excellent opportunity for those wanting to give it a try.
See you on the Fells
