The Gill Pimblott 4.4 mile Memorial race - Club champs race 7 by Emma Higgins

20thJuly 2014

28 runners signed up and ran the 7th club race and In memory of Gill Pimblott with a route held along side the Half marathon (3 loops) and Full marathon (6 loops) of a route also referred to as "The lions bridge"

Registration and the after Presentation, back at the clubhouse made for a great atmosphere.

The 1 loop route led out at the back of the Gin Pit club house and along the trails, passing the infamous Lions Bridge before heading down through Lilford park and into the Woods onto Green lane before heading back towards the Gin Pit.

The course was flattish and relatively dry, considering the previous days showers.
Despite the temperature and humidity levels being on the high side all runners ran exceptionally well! it's proved difficult to choose a runner of the day, but coach Shaun Moran is consistently running well and therefore feel he deserves recognition for this and a well earned 'runner of the day' bottle.

Well done and thank you everyone who ran marshalled, photographed or contributed in the charity event. (individual times have been put on the blog).

WINDMILL HALF MARATHON 13th JULY 2014

WINDMILL HALF MARATHON  13th JULY 2014

Set in Lytham St Annes the route was two laps along the promenade.  A very flat route, however the strong winds made one half of the course difficult.

Goody bag at the end included a medal, water, banana and a chocolate bar.

Unfortunately, a problem with the manufacturer meant there were no chip timings.  However A&T 'gun' results as follows;

Steve Coleman 1:28:07
David Capner 1:29:08
Neil Hughes 1:29:52
Jonathon Hall 1:45:59
Gemma Lysycia 1:52:55

Well done team!

xx

Gill Pimblott 4.4 mile race

Online entries have now closed for Sunday's Gill Pimblott 4.4 mile race.  You can enter on the day in the clubhouse.

Lions Bridge and Gill Pimblott Races

It’s the Lions Bridge half and full marathon this Sunday 20th July. I have most things covered but would like a couple more volunteers to help out with lap counting and time keeping. This can be done in shifts. I’m looking for cover between 10am & 2pm. The role involves ticking runners off as they pass each lap or recording their times when they finish on pre-printed sheets.
If anyone thinks they would like to help or want to ask me any questions about this role please contact me on Facebook, mobile 07739 393 393 or email malc26.2@gmail.com
Good luck to those running the Ironman on the same day and hope to see a few other A&Ters down at the Gin Pit for the Gill Pimblott or Lions Bridge races.

Ironman Sponsorship - by Craig Bradbury

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.

Having ran since the age of 17, I developed an interest in triathlons in 2007,worked on my swimming and cycling, did a few sprint distances, then olympic distances.Last year I  managed a half ironman.

Late August last year,I decided to do Ironman UK,so I thought if I am going to do it I should do it for a good cause and decided to choose SCOPE.

I began training at Xmas but it hasn't always gone to plan as I have suffered  sciatica, and foot and calf problems and doubts crept into my mind. However I am going to give it a go so it would be great to raise some money for people with real disability problems which is what SCOPE is all about.

I realise that times are hard but if you could sponsor me,however big or small the amount, I would really appreciate it.I will start the ball rolling.

Thank you.
CRAIG.
