Dunham Massey 5k

On a very warm and breezy Friday evening 4 A&T athletes made their way to Dunham Massey for the 1st of 5 races of the North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix series. The course being just under 2 1/2 slightly undulating laps starting from the mansion house. The surface consisted of mostly park paths with some trails which were very dry for the race with the recent weather. There was also a stiff breeze in your face to contend with on the home straight, which made it a bit of a battle to the finish.

In a strong field of 247 runners the winner, Dave Norman of Althrincham and District AC, completed the race in 15.48. Scott Christey was the first A&T runner back with a time of 18.45 and taking 38th position. Colin Kay finished under a minute later with 19.25 taking the first V55 prize and 50th position overall. Well done Colin and looking good for his category at the start of series. The Baron followed Colin home a few minutes later with 22.24 and 142nd position. And our only female competitor Bev Tickle ran well to finish in 210th with 27.45. The next race in the series is at Hollins Green on Saturday 2nd June.
