As I
contemplate the London marathon tomorrow (eek!), I can't help but think
just how much A&T have done for me and my training. As many of you
are aware, I've been living up in Leigh for the past few months and
through recommendation (Michaela Shaw!), I decided to come along to
A&T to check it out. Needless to say I found all the good things
she'd said confirmed and more. Unfortunately my job that I'd moved up
for was only fixed-term, which has found me sadly having to say goodbye
to a lot of friends I've made during my time here. I wanted to say a
proper thank you to all of you A&Ters who have made my time running
with the club the special and positive experience it's been.
From the first time I joined I couldn't believe how friendly everyone was. Thank you to Garry Baines for welcoming me that first Tuesday run I came along to and apologies to Terry for making the "easy" Tuesday night run not so easy. I love how everyone shakes hands after each run and says well done - never stop doing that, it's great! Whilst technically a "Southerner" I have to say I like to think I have a Northerner in me at heart; I've always found people up North far friendlier than down South and as a club I think you encapsulate this!
For the short amount of time I've run with you all I've felt included. Thank you Gary Stevens for getting me included on the facebook group. I appreciated how much support, encouragement and the quality of the training runs I found at A&T; there's a great balance between fantastic quality sessions and the camaraderie that goes along with it. I've found myself really pushing myself in some of the sessions which has done wonders for my training. For example, thank you John for at times making me feel like I'm at boot camp and to Shaun for taking me out of my comfort zone on the track sessions and Wednesday effort sessions, Claire for track-side encouragement and Kim too. All together everyone I've run with has really helped me to believe more in myself.
I've had a lot of laughs and good memories from my time at the club. Times that come to mind include the Tuesday runs, being chased and found after getting lost on the 4 mile time trial at Gin Pit (sorry guys- especially Simon who had an unplanned sprint finish to his already fast run!), and the drive up to Silverstone half with Paul, Michaela and Christine (fantastic car mates, I shant repeat the jokes and innuendos that went on during the drive ;).

A&T you're a great bunch and I wish I could have stayed. Keep in touch and happy running...

I don’t even know the way I finished up right here, however I assumed this publish was great. I do not realize who you are but definitely you are going to be a well-known blogger in case you are not already. Cheers!
