Whinberry Naze Fell Race 2011by Michelle Fuller
Helen Minshall (santa), Louise Dobson (supergirl) and myself (118) decided to burn off the Christmas pudding on boxing day at Whinberry Naze fell race.
Last year the ground was covered in Ice and snow, totally opposite this year mud, mud and more mud. With the promise of a pack of smarties at the summit we all set of up the hill at a steady pace, Louise attending her first fell race, headed off up the track leaving myself and Helen behind. The ground began to level out a little before a steep but short scramble. The ground levels out again with a steady run to santa, who unfortunately had ran out of smarties, very disappointed!
However the race must go on and most of it being down hill. I could see Louise in the distance and managed to pick up my pace past Louise to the steep decent back down the track. 118(myself) finishing at 46.05 followed by supergirl (Louise) at 47.20 then santa (Helen) looking like she was having the time of her life came in at 52.27. Helen managed to get some smarties and kindly shared them out, making it all worth it.
