A&T v. Swinton v Burnden Challenge Wednesday 22nd June 2011

Wednesday 22nd June sees the 1st Leg of the second A&T/ Swinton/Burnden Challenge Match. A&T will host this first event at Gin Pit - meeting at 6.45pm for the run which will start at 7.30p.m.
This is intended to be a light-hearted, fun challenge and is designed to involve runners of all abilities in all three Clubs.
The competition on this particular evening will be run as a 3-runner per team relay event. The distance covered by each runner equates to approximately 2 miles.
  1. Runners will be selected into teams of 3 of equal abilities.
  2. Each time captain will select who runs in each of their teams.
  3. When the race has been completed, each team will be allocated a race position number i.e. the team finishing first scores 1, the 2nd team scores 2 etc. The club with the lowest number of points wins the challenge.
  4. If, for example, A&T enter 10 teams and Swinton & Burnden enter 8 teams, only A&T’s best 8 scores will count but if A&T’s team 9 beat Swinton and Burnden’s team 8s, this will be reflected in the scoring.
  5. A minimum of 5 teams per club is required for scoring the competition. So if one club only fields 4 teams, they will incur a penalty for the non-competing 5th team. This team will take the next position in the field after the last of competing teams.

There is no pressure on anyone to produce spectacular times. It really is a social gathering interspersed with a bit of leisurely running.
