Horwich 5 by Gary Stevens

Three A&T members travelled the short distance to Horwich to compete in the Blue Mantle 5k (formerly carnival 5k)

The open 5k is one of many races during the day which included penny farthings, road bike races, orienteering and running races.

The course itself is 3 loops around the town centre which includes a good 1/3 mile undulating climb on each lap and due to the blustery conditions meant the climb bit was in a pretty strong headwind.

I was first club finisher 17th in 18.30 with Stuart Adamson 23rd in 20.03 just in front of Marcus Taylor 24th 20.27

Unknowingly we got 3rd team but only Marcus was there to receive our medals, i on the other hand was trying to be interviewed ... think the fancy trainers made me look like a proper pro!!

Afterwards the faster lads who clocked in the low 15's all seemed to be complaining of the windy conditions, what we would give to be disappointed with these kind of times!
