On Friday evening 5 A&T members took part in the penultimate race of North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix series at Dunham Massey. This venue was the second running in this series and I billed it in my last report that it was a great course for anyone looking to attain a PB. I got to the venue and started to strip down into my racing gear when I opened the boot of my car to realise I had left my bag with my series number and garmin at work! So I quickly made my way to the organisers and explained that I had been a dumb ass and left my number in work. They were very good about it and quickly gave me an emergency number for the race which was aptly 999. They then told me to make sure I sure I did not put it on upside down, which some may think is a more appropriate number for me.
The race itself consisted of 194 runners with the first back being Ian Grime of Newham and Essex Beagles in a time of 15.51. The first back for A&T was Scott Christey in 19th place with 17.43. He was followed home by Colin Kay with 19.02 and 50th position. Next home was Nasser Isman-Egal with a PB time of 21.14 and 91st place. I seem to recall him saying, well shouting, that it had taken him 14 months to get that PB and it was by 3 seconds man. He then proceeded to shout it to all and sundry so you could tell he was very pleased with his time! I came in exactly one minute behind Nasser shaving 2 seconds off my PB with 22.14 and 112th place. Again our only female A&T entrant Bev Tickle ran in with an improvement of almost a minute on the last race on this course in the series.
The last race in the series is next Saturday 25th June at Lymm.
