Wardle Skyline Fell Race-Sat 9th April 11- By Paul Jackson

Due to the very hot weather, there were more bare chests at this event than a ‘Booby-Dooby’ night at the Miner’s Arms. Although it has been suggested that I submit a gallery of the photos of the fellas, I have to consider those of a nervous disposition, so sorry girls (or boys?), maybe another time.
This race was a 7mile/1350’ascent loop over the hills around Watergrove Reservoir.
Where do I start?
Simon Ford gets an excellent 9th place and first Grand Prix club runner home. Tracy Parry knocks 15 minutes off last year’s effort, a massive improvement. Marjorie Lee’s great run and prize for first Lady V60. Marcus Taylor beating me second race on the trot, cementing his challenge for the vet prizes.
Lyndsey Carter buried the ghost of last year’s injury well and truly with a fine run, after being granted free entry by our friends at Rochdale Harriers.
Other runs of note, Paul Basnett who dared to venture onto the fells again after the horror of Holcombe last year, Michelle Fuller with her third fell race in quick succession, and my old mate Rob Sparks who was up visiting for the weekend, enjoying his second fell race of the season (and beating me for good measure).
The race was well organised and Mountain Rescue were on hand as always ‘just in case’. Just a reminder that they are a voluntary service that depends on donations, to help people in trouble on the hills and mountains. Michelle Fuller is supporting this charity on the Edinburgh Marathon later this year, so it would be nice if a couple of quid was thrown her way by us good folk at A&T http://www.justgiving.com/Michelle-Fuller0
