The first 'Run the Flash' 10km/half marathon race took place on Sunday 3rd April. It was quite a success with over 400 runners competing in the 2 events, including 8 A+T members.
The course started and finished at the Pennington Sports village running track taking in a couple of circuitous loops on the trails around the golf coarse and flash. Great views of the flash took the mind off what was a surprisingly hilly coarse.
Astley and Tyldesley members ran really well with overall 1st place going to Shaun Moran with a fantastic time of 1H.17.43. Congratulations. Next A+Ter in was 4th placed Rufus Bennett with another great time of 1H. 22.21. The rest of us came in as follows: Daniel Reason, 13th place in 1.27.52. Mark Lysycia, 23rd place in 1.30.27. Derek Coop, 29th place in 1.33.27. Anthony Hart, 64th place in 1.42.44. Joan Cooke, 120th place in 2.08.30. Well done to all.
For Joan and myself, this was our first half marathon and so were really pleased with ourselves. The atmosphere and camaraderie were great and I am certainly looking forward to the next one.
