Coleman blazes a PB whilst others falter in the heat at Salford .. by Gary Stevens

19 A&T members joined a field of over 600 runners for the traditional Good Friday "flat and very fast" Salford 10km.  I know a lot of our runners had trained really hard for this event with a view of looking for fast times to secure league positions and promotion for 2012 however you can train for the distance of 10k but with temperatures well in the 20's you cannot beat the heat!
Steve Coleman without doubt was the runner of the day to clock a PB of 37.49 with Steve only getting his entry from begging the registration for a number 10 minutes before the start .. well done Steve.
There was also a strong run from Troy Topping 37.44 and it was great to see Mike Geoghegan 48.40 back racing after a long injury lay off.
Apart from that in the main everyone else ran below par and will live to fight another day, remember its the bad races that make you appreciate the good ones and looking at the final results it appears that around 50 starters did not finish the race.
