The Gin Pit Marathon Double is this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday the 12th & 13th March. The races start both days at 9:30am. The start and the finish of the races are at the Gin Pit. Anyone is welcome to come down to watch the start.
Some A&T runners are planning on running the first half of the course as a training run. 13.1 miles takes you to Marsland Green Bridge in Astley which is about 1 mile from the Gin Pit. Should anyone wish to do this on either day you are welcome to tag along with the runners at the start. No number is needed and there is no charge.
The first finisher should be coming in at around 12:30pm or shortly afterwards. You are all welcome to come down to watch the runners finish.
There will be hot drinks and pasties for sale at the Gin Pit Kitchen as well as the usual bar facilities.
There is also a Pasta Party arranged on the Saturday Night at “Bella Pasta”, Rufus’s restaurant in Leigh at £15 per head. It is taking place from 5pm till 8pm, a fairly early time, this is for the runners that need an early night to be ready for day 2. Others may wish to check out some of the local pubs afterwards. Runners and A & T members are all welcome. There are currently about 20 people going but there is still room for more. If anyone is interested please contact Clare Unsworth.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that has helped and is marshalling over the weekend. You all should make this event a great success.
I am still looking for one more marshal for the Saturday to cover the Traffic Lights at Platt Bridge between 11:40am to 2:15pm. If anyone can cover this spot please contact me on 07739 393 393.
Regards
