Green Drive 5 – By Gary Stevens

27 A&T members made their way to compete in the final club road race of the year the Green Drive 5 in Lytham, a flat course that attracted over 400 entries.
Simon Ford was competing in the Abingdon Marathon so it was a battle for 30 points between Shaun Moran and Peter Chan with the latter just getting the nod by 6 seconds to finish in 28.22 and 28.16 respectively.
Gary Stevens (me) was satisfied with his efforts running with a calf problem 31.14 closely followed by the ever improving Alan Webb (formerly known as the man with no name!) with another solid effort from Terry G 32.03.
It was great to see Craig Bradbury back in the blue vest (and running rather well) after a 2010 to forget 33.16 followed by Marcus Taylor 34.36. Wayne Babynec 36.04 and David Crowe 36.32 both produced good performances with a limping Bacon Mon (Ian Hamilton) 36.43 and Glyn Thomson 37.05 hotly in persuit.
Another runner on the comeback trail Ray Taylor clocked 38.53 but was limping shortly after with Paul Basnett 40.14 bringing the team home.
In the ladies section Maria Lowe 31.30 appeared to be still suffering from illness with Josie Maley 32.04 and Jean Mann 32.08 in pursuit.
Brenda Wane 34.44, Carole Baines 35.01, Suzanne Gregory 37.20,Michaela Shaw 37.52, Vanessa Thomson and Laura Babynec seemed happy with their efforts.
The ever improving Cath Hodgetts who seems to be racing every week clocked 44.39 with Helen Minshall 46.01, Denise Babynec 46.12, Clare Unsworth 50.54 and Cheryl Wainwright 56.05 in her first race for the club all stuck to the task well.
Today saw a number of great performances with to many to mention in this report and numerous PB's but you know all who you are.
On a final note im sure everyone will join me in thanking our road captain Garry Baines for doing a fantastic job this year and we all look forward to seeing what 2011 has in store!
