12 in 12
I have set myself the challenge of doing a 12 in 12 next year. That is, to do 12 marathons in 12 months between January and December 2011. I haven't done a marathon before and I always knew I would have to do one at some point before I hung up the running shoes and was put out to pasture. However, I've seen a lot of people over the years doing a lot of challenges and thought I need to set myself one.
My initial intention was to find a marathon for each month somewhere in the country. I though this would be the easy bit. How wrong I was... I have revised my thinking and I'm still doing 12 in 12 but some months are fairly busy !!
Anyway, getting to the point. Would anybody else be interested in joining me on my quest? Below is a list of the races and dates I have come up with but will be subject to change depending on if I discover any to make the schedule easier. I'm also thinking that people will be doing London and some marathons overseas who may want to do a 12 in 12 also. So in effect as long as people do 12 in 12 then we could ineffect have support groups on races that weren't part of their schedule.
My current list is
Gloucester 23 Jan
Blackpool 10 Apr
Shakespeare 8 May
Windermere 22 May
Fleetwood 28 Aug (approx)
Wolverhampton 4 Sep (approx)
Great Langdale 24 Sep (approx)
Anglesey 25 Sep (approx)
MBNA Chester 9 Oct
Snowdonia 29 Oct (approx)
Newcastle Town 20 Nov (approx)
Luton 4 Dec (approx)
There are others that may come in but I'm struggling for anything local Feb, Mar, June and July which would take off the pressure - especially with Great Langdale and Anglesey on the same weekend. Does anybodyknow of any?
Anybody else daft enough to join in? email me Stuart.Adamson@volkerfitzpatrick.co.uk
