Henderson's End Fell Race-" A local race for local people"

More Rivvy than Royston Vasey, 8 A&T went to this excellent event hosted by Lostock AC.   A lovely dry, warm Thursday night for a run over the moors. The race goes up the rocky path towards the Pigeon Tower then around the left of Winter Hill before you cut in and start a climb up to the trig point. Then its a trod up and around the Two Lads before a final climb up and around the Pike itself. This leads to a fast finish on track back down to where we started (5.8miles/800').

Simon Ford was up front leading the way, unaware that Mark ruscoe was steadily catching him.....that was until Mark said "I'm catching you!" and Simon quickly upped the pace and made sure he was first blue vest home. Not something I recall Coe and Ovett doing in the 80's.

Mark came in seconds behind (D'oh!!).

Marcus had another great run and is loving his fell running, and Pete, still easing his way back in, looked strong.

Greg Ruscoe was out for his first fell race and put in a great run, sprinting to the finish line with a blooded knee after a fall. He enjoyed the event so much that he may end his karaoke career to concentrate on his hill reps.

Welcome also to Barry Allman and Stuart Adamson who ran their first fell race in A&T colours.

After the race, most of us went for a couple of pints in a local pub, and unfortunately it must have been Acid House night. Like a load of old duffers we sat with our pints of real ale, moaning about 'the din' from the speakers.

Results as follows;

1st Danny Hope - Pudsey & Bramley 37:32
14th Simon Ford 44.51
15th Mark Ruscoe 44:57
25th Paul Jackson 47:53
35th Marcus Taylor 50:32
38th Pete Mulleady 51:46
47th Greg Ruscoe 53:46
50th Stuart Adamson 54:20
65th Barry Allman 61:03

Don't forget there are more fell races this week on Wednesday at Holcombe and on Sunday at Rochdale.
